AWCA AWARDS of EXCELLENCE

 

The outstanding projects completed during the past year are recognized with an AWCA AWARD of EXCELLENCE.  These awards recognize the workmanship, the artistry, the innovation, and the successful execution of projects completed in Alberta by AWCA member companies and their personnel.  In the words of AWCA Past President Max Welz, these projects with their scope, vision, and grandeur literally dare to challenge, dare to change.  Recipients of the AWCA Project of the Year Awards (Build Alberta Awards) have demonstrated the very best when it comes to building Alberta.

The goals of the awards program are to:

  • Recognize individuals and AWCA member companies for their contribution toward excellence in the wall and ceiling industry in Alberta
  • Increase awareness amongst the construction community and the public about the broad scope of outstanding work our members perform

Nominations are accepted throughout the year with an announced final call to Members for nominations in the beginning of May.  Judging takes place in May and the awards are presented at the AWCA Annual Golf Tournament Dinner.

The projects will be judged on design, job site innovation and/or conditions, quality of workmanship, use of materials and overall effect.

Formal recognition of the winners will be at the AWCA annual Golf Tournament June 2, 2023 in Red Deer.

2022 nominations

Award Categories

• Interior: residential (single family or multifamily); and commercial
• Exterior: residential (single family or multifamily); and commercial
• Suspended ceiling (acoustical)
• Light-gauge steel framing
• Renovation/restoration

An award May be presented in each category.

RULES

• project(s) may be any size or dollar amount.
• project(s) may be new or renovation/restoration.
• project(s) must be complete, with the exception of the Light-gauge steel-framing category, which requires that the steel-framing scope of work is complete.
• anyone may nominate any number of projects; the wall and ceiling contractor must be a member in good standing of AWCA.
• the winning contractor team must be present at the AWCA annual Golf Tournament dinner to accept the award.

• The nomination form must be filled out completely for each individual project.
• A separate document with information on the project must be attached.
• Submit high-quality, high-resolution images of the project by Email to exec@awca.ca. Photos taken during construction are optional for all projects except those in the Light-gauge steel-framing category, for which they are required.

The quality of the photos is an important part of the overall submission.

Submission of materials grants permission for unrestricted promotional use by AWCA of all photographs and information. this includes, but is not limited to, awards program publicity and publication in association, industry and other publications.
