About Us
KERR was started in 1978 by four friends and co-workers: Ken Rubin, Ed Wiebe, Russ McAuley and Ron Creusot, hence the name KERR.
KERR has grown steadily over the last 40+ years, and Wendell and Darryl Wiebe took over the company in the year 2000, with Barry Derkson becoming a minority partner in 2001.
KERR currently specializes in all types of Acoustic ceilings, steel stud framing, drywall, exterior gypsum sheathing, batt insulation and vapor barrier. We also do a variety of specialty ceilings and products, including Sound control products like acoustic baffles and panels and acoustic plaster.
KERR has also done over 30 Load Bearing steel stud buildings and structures, and can currently build up to an 8 story building using Load bearing steel stud and Comslab or Ultra-bond floor systems, or a combination of steel stud joists and shallow deck for the floors. We can custom design and build steel stud roof trusses up to approximately a 60’ span. These are typically very cost efficient ways of achieving a non-combustible building rating.
